DevBlog #2 – Skywrath Mage – Burning Vengeance Away with Mercy

It is often said “Fight fire, with fire”, however we believe that only the radiance of the water can extinguish the dire harshness of the fire. Now the same concept is applied here on the following concept. It is widely known that Dragonas the Skywrath Mage (the character portrayed in Dota 2) is in love with another fallen princess from the Skywrath, a princess that embraced the flames of vengeance deep within and rose only to seek the death of those who have wronged her. And thus we thought to make angelic mercy as the theme for skywrath mage, and try to burn out the flames of vengeance with the light of mercy. This is what our Lead Concept Artist Agito was able to come up with the Skywrath Mage – the Angel of Mercy:

Burning vengeance away with the light of mercy. A radiant light that not only burns darkness away, but also washes down all anger left in the vengeful princess. One day she will rise from the ashes of the light renewed and rejuvenated.
